Technical Assistance & Programmatic Outreach
Providing monthly and/or quarterly presentations for required training hours in areas of social-emotional development, challenging behaviors, relationship building, and developmentally appropriate practice. Includes standardized trainings and site-specific trainings. Surveys childcare programs and families and works with other stakeholders/professionals in the field of early childhood education to produce articles and resources related to social-emotional development and early learning that can be used in newsletters, trainings, and communication with families. Develops resources for sites regarding special considerations and support needed to facilitate the successful inclusion of children and families.This also includes planning and coordinating special events for your childcare center/classroom like book fairs, literacy nights, math nights, family date nights, game nights, etc.
Trainings & Presentations
Development, facilitation, and participation in efforts to develop research-based training materials and presentations for childcare providers, educators, and families. This includes a variety of avenues including on-site training, evening presentations, and online forums facilitated through Google Classroom. Presentations are current and trainings are based on relevant topics in the field of early childhood education that providers and teachers are facing today. This includes both standardized trainings and specialized trainings based on individual needs of centers and educators. Includes development of individual professional development plans for teachers and employees based on need and interest.
Collaboration & Coordination
Working closely with other professionals and agencies to achieve individual and site goals; cultivating partnerships with other resources in the community to expand your horizons. Includes on-site technical assistance to mentor and assist teachers in guiding positive behavior and promoting age-expected pro-social skills. Liaison between centers/individuals and other behavioral specialists, school systems, and early childhood professionals to assist providers and families.This service is also available to parents of a child enrolled in an early childhood setting who may be struggling with age-expected behavior expectations in the classroom. After observing the child in several different capacities across his or her daily schedule, I will coordinate with the family and the teacher to brainstorm concrete solutions to address specific behavior patterns and monitor progress of implementation.
Resource & Curriculum Development
Development of resources to include family handbooks, staff handbooks, employee policies, site and classroom newsletters, blog posts and blog facilitation, staff evaluation systems, curriculum plans, and theme-based learning activities to align with Virginia's Foundation Blocks of Early Learning and the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale.
